From an asylum system sealed at the southern border to Temporary Protected Status revoked for entire nationalities, this thread tracks the campaign — much of it architected by Stephen Miller — to end legal immigration and reverse the promise inscribed on the Statue of Liberty: “give me your tired, your poor.” It runs alongside [[ice]], which records the enforcement on the ground. On June 25, 2026, the Supreme Court's conservative supermajority issued two 6–3 rulings. One revived the administration's “metering” policy, letting border officials turn away and indefinitely refuse to process asylum seekers — even those presenting themselves lawfully at official ports of entry. The other ended Temporary Protected Status for more than 350,000 Haitians and 6,100 Syrians, with Justice Alito writing that courts cannot even review such terminations. Deputy chief of staff Stephen Miller responded that “America's doors are closed fully to asylum seekers” and said Haitians with protected status should leave the country.
